September 8th, 1973: The Future is NOW! New Saturday Morning Cartoons Just Landed!

Alright, another year, another monumental Saturday morning! The air just crackles with anticipation. We're seasoned pros now; we know this is the real start of the TV year for us.

Let's set the stage for September 8th, 1973. The excitement, the new shows, and the familiar comfort of our favorite returning characters.

September 8th, 1973: The Future is NOW! New Saturday Morning Cartoons Just Landed!

It's here! It’s finally, truly here! September 8th, 1973. This is the day we’ve all been counting down to since school started back up, since those long summer repeats began, and definitely since those whispers about new shows started reaching us. The new Saturday morning cartoon season has officially kicked off, and from what I’ve seen in the TV Guide, this year is going to be out of this world!

Every fall, it's like Christmas morning again. The networks pull back the curtain on all their secrets, showcasing the shows they've worked on all year just for us. No mid-season surprises for us kids – the real deal is right now, today! So grab your bowls of Sugar Smacks, find your spot on the floor, and let’s dive into what 1973 has brought to our beloved Saturday mornings!

ABC: Heroes, Aliens, and Hanna-Barbera Magic!

ABC is seriously coming in strong this year! The biggest news, and the one I’m most hyped about, has to be Super Friends! Can you believe it? Superman, Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and even the new teen heroes, Marvin, Wendy, and Wonder Dog! It looks like they’re going to be fighting all sorts of bad guys and saving the world every week. This is going to be epic!

They're also bringing us Yogi's Gang, which sounds like a huge reunion of all our favorite Hanna-Barbera characters – Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, Huckleberry Hound, Snagglepuss, Magilla Gorilla, and tons more – all traveling around in a flying ark trying to solve pollution problems. Sounds like a lot of laughs and maybe even a good message. And if you're like me and love a good mystery, but with a ghost, GOOBER and the Ghost Chasers looks like another fun one. A dog that can turn invisible when he gets scared, helping kids solve spooky mysteries? Yes, please! The Brady Kids are also back for more musical adventures. ABC is really bringing the noise this year!

CBS: More Mysteries, More Laughs, and a Genie!

CBS is definitely sticking with their winning formulas, but they’ve added some cool new twists. The New Scooby-Doo Movies are back, and that’s fantastic. I loved seeing Scooby team up with all those famous guests last year, so more of that is a definite win.

But they've also brought in some fresh blood! Speed Buggy looks like a blast. It’s another mystery-solving team, but this time with a talking dune buggy! It sounds like a car version of Scooby-Doo, and honestly, that sounds pretty great. And get this: Jeannie! Yes, the animated version of I Dream of Jeannie! A high school student finds a genie, and she causes all sorts of hilarious trouble. This is going to be a riot. Plus, we still have Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids bringing their unique blend of humor and life lessons. CBS continues to deliver!

NBC: Sci-Fi, Spies, and Some Wild Animals!

NBC is going for some seriously cool new stuff! The one I've been waiting for is Star Trek: The Animated Series! The original live-action show was awesome, and now we get Captain Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the whole Enterprise crew in brand new animated adventures, exploring strange new worlds. This is going to be amazing for us science fiction fans!

They've also got Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids, which sounds like a groovy rock band that also secretly fights crime. It’s got that cool, spy-action vibe. And for fans of the live-action show, Emergency! +4 is an animated version following the paramedics, but with animal sidekicks! Sounds like a fun way to bring rescue adventures to Saturday mornings. And for something a little different, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, another wacky live-action puppet show from the Krofft brothers, looks like a ton of fun with a friendly sea monster.

The Magic is Back!

This morning, the whole house feels different. It’s quiet, except for the sounds of the TV, and that happy hum that comes from knowing you’ve got hours of pure entertainment ahead. The commercials are already popping up – Hot Wheels stunt sets, Nerf footballs, and all those sugary cereals screaming for attention. Every jingle, every bright ad, just adds to the whole incredible atmosphere.

This isn't just about watching shows; it's about being part of something bigger. It's about sharing the excitement, the laughs, and the gasps with millions of other kids, all plugged into the same wavelength. 1973 is going to be an unforgettable year for Saturday mornings. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think the Super Friends theme music is starting!

What are you diving into first this morning? Let me know which new shows are your favorites!
