I. The Premise: The Thinning of the Veil

The Bayou Breach isn't just a location; it's a cosmic intersection. For thousands of years, portals have connected Earth to worlds like Zimrala and Trollworld. In the 2026 season, these portals have officially "blown open," turning the Ogiepanogie Swamplands into a wild, multi-dimensional frontier.

While the rest of the world struggles to understand the "Cosmic Apocalypse," the residents of Shreveport are living on the front lines, governed by the laws of the Monsterary of Zimrala (MoZ).

II. Key Geography

1. The Ogiepanogie Swamplands

A primordial version of the Louisiana bayou where the water is thick with Ether. It is home to the 27 critters of the Breach Monsterary. The trees here (Ancient Cypress) act as natural anchors for rifts, often draped in Spanish moss that vibrates with prismatic light.

2. The Shreveport Cabin

The tactical heart of the resistance. This is where the Hedge Wizard (PC) monitors the ley lines using his collection of Moon Crystals. It is a place of healing and power, currently protected by the Warden's magical shields.

3. The Cypress Shadow B&B

Owned by Ms. Marple (The Goddess of the Gritz), this location maintains a "Normalcy Shield." It’s where travelers can get a hot meal and a bed without worrying about a Hippo coming through the wall—as long as they follow the house rules.

III. The Players

  • The Hedge Wizard: The primary protector. Immune to acid and poison, he uses the "Sleep Mode" to recharge his connection to the Ether.

  • The Tiger Force Vets: Led by Uncle Bill, these soldiers utilize their CQC and survival training to keep the perimeter secure against non-magical threats.

  • The Magna Mater (Magna Marta): The primary antagonist. She is scouting the Earth for her "Goat Team" recruits, using the Breach to bring through her own dark young and Durdle Demons.

  • The Ether Dragons: Massive beings (like Zephyr) who control the flow of the rifts and ensure that those escaping the end of worlds find a home in the new Zimralan-Earth mix.

IV. The Rules of the Land

In the Bayou Breach, size determines threat. Following the MoZ Standards, everything from a $1D6$ mosquito to a $3D6 (TARO) \times 10$ Hippopotamus has its own individual Monster Rating. The world is now Open Source, meaning the magic belongs to anyone brave enough to wield it.

Our Bayou Breach Monsterary (2026 Guide)

Date: February 3, 2026 Source: The Hedge Wizard of the Shreveport Cabin Topic: The Open-Source Era & Survival Stats for 27 Ogiepanogie Critters

The fever has finally broken. I spent the last week in a deep "Sleep Mode," letting the Moon Crystals on my desk pull the sickness out of my marrow. But while I was healing, the world changed. Ken St. Andre has officially announced that his gaming treasures are now Open Source.

I have it in writing that I can use his rules, and since he’s leaving it to me to help guide the way, I’m keeping these gates wide open. This means the Monsterary of Zimrala (MoZ) and the rifts of the Ogiepanogie are now part of our shared legacy. Here is the official Monsters! Monsters! 2.7 field guide to the 27 critters currently prowling the Bayou, statted using the now-open MoZ standards.

I. The Heavyweights (Big & Huge Predators)

In the Ogiepanogie, "Big" animals weigh between 100–1000 lbs. "Huge" animals, like the Hippo, weigh over 1000 lbs and utilize the TARO (Triples Add and Roll Over) mechanic.

IV. Notes from the Hedge Wizard's Desk

With the world of Monsters! Monsters! now being Open Source, remember that every animal is an individual. Every Game Master is now the architect of their own rifts.

  • DARO (Doubles Add and Roll Over): Used for our Medium hunters. If you roll doubles, you're looking at a beast that's having an especially dangerous day.

  • TARO (Triples Add and Roll Over): For Huge threats like the Hippo. This is the ultimate "Open Source" chaos mechanic—triples mean the beast has tapped into the raw power of the Ether.

  • The "In Writing" Legacy: Ken has left it to us to keep the lore alive. As we move into this new era, the Shreveport Cabin will remain the primary station for monitoring these "Open" leaks.

Stay safe. The Ogiepanogie belongs to all of us now, but that just means there are more ways for the swamp to surprise you.
