Multiversal Lore: Knowledge +3 (8D+1)
Piloting (Mancer-ship): Mechanical +2 (5D)
Science (Temporal Physics): Knowledge +3 (8D+1)
Tactics: Knowledge +3 (8D+1)
Investigation: Perception +2 (6D+1)
Brawling (Natural Weapons): Agility +2 (6D in humanoid form, 7D in Tygerian form) - New skill for claws and bite.
Stealth: Agility +1 (5D in humanoid form, 6D in Tygerian form) - Enhanced due to feline nature.
Survival: Resolve +2 (6D+2, 7D in Tygerian form)
Beyond his skills, Captain Hedges possesses remarkable traits: he is Lucky (represented by a high starting pool of Story Points and the "Lucky" trait), grants Eidetic Memory for perfect recall, and is Unflappable in the face of temporal paradoxes or cosmic horrors. His Driven nature ensures he pursues the chronicle relentlessly, often operating under a strict Non-Interventionist code, only stepping in when the multiversal fabric itself is at risk.
Tygerian Special Abilities:
Alternate Form (Special Ability): Captain Hedges can shift between his humanoid form and his Tygerian (were-tiger) forms (hybrid or full tiger) as an action. This transformation is usually under his control.
Natural Weapons (Claws & Bite): In Tygerian form, he gains powerful natural attacks.
Claw Attack: Strength +1D (3D+2 in Humanoid, 5D in Tygerian) - Slashing Damage.
Bite Attack: Strength +2D (4D+2 in Humanoid, 6D in Tygerian) - Piercing Damage.
Enhanced Senses: Always active, but particularly acute in Tygerian form. Grants Low-light Vision, and a bonus to Perception (Scent) checks.
Damage Resistance: In Tygerian form, he gains a natural resistance to conventional attacks, perhaps gaining +1D to Hull against non-magical, non-silvered physical damage.
The Hedges Chronometer: A Mancer-ship
Every Chronomancer needs a vessel, and Captain Hedges' is his Mancer-ship, aptly named The Hedges Chronometer. Unlike conventional spacecraft, it's a marvel of temporal and dimensional engineering, designed specifically for observation and archival.
Appearance: The Chronometer's Concealment Matrix is permanently stuck, causing its exterior to manifest as a grand Knights Pavilion Tent. This stately disguise allows it to blend into various historical and alien landscapes, a silent observer of unfolding events, reflecting a sense of noble purpose and hidden majesty. Its true nature, however, is revealed within.
Mancer-ship Attributes (d6 Starship System):
Type: Dimensionally Transcendent Chrono-Archival Vessel
Scale: Character Scale (Exterior), Pocket Dimension Scale (Interior)
Crew: 1 (Captain Hedges)
Maneuverability: 3D+1
Hull: 4D
Shields: 6D (Strong temporal/Artron energy shields)
Sensor Rating: 7D
Computer: 7D
Nav Computer: 8D
Space Speed: Instantaneous (Temporal Jump)
Atmosphere Speed: 10
Unique Mancer-ship Systems:
The Chronometer boasts advanced systems crucial for its mission:
Temporal Drive/Chrono-Displacement Unit: The heart of its temporal travel, enabling instantaneous jumps across time and space.
Dimensional Transcendence: The iconic "bigger on the inside" feature, providing virtually infinite internal space for archives and facilities.
Artron Energy Core: A self-sustaining power source, drawing directly from the time vortex.
Universal Recording Array (URA): Provides a +3D bonus to all Perception (Scanning) and Knowledge (Analysis) checks for passive observation.
Temporal Cloaking Field: Makes the Mancer-ship invisible and undetectable across temporal and spatial spectra.
Multiversal Gateway Projector: Can briefly open localized portals to other universes, guided by the Ether Dragons' domain over such pathways, primarily for observation.
Hedges Chronometer Archive & Dream Library: More than just a database, this is a vast, shifting, and potentially infinite repository of all knowledge, past, present, and future, across all realities. Accessible through mental attunement, it functions much like the legendary library from the Dreamlands. It can manifest as endless corridors of glowing tomes, swirling nebulae of data, or direct psychic influxes of pure information. While immensely powerful, prolonged or uncontrolled immersion can be disorienting or even mentally taxing (GM's discretion on difficulty and potential strain). This system provides significant bonuses to Knowledge rolls (up to +5D) for accessing arcane, temporal, or multiversal information, provided Captain Hedges can navigate its labyrinthine depths.
Emergency Displace System: A last resort, allowing the ship to automatically jump to a random safe point in time/space if under severe threat.
Cosmic Spells: The Chronomancer's Arsenal
Beyond his formidable technology, Captain Hedges directly taps into the fundamental forces of the cosmos, wielding powerful universal spells through his Cosmic Attunement.
Chronal Echo: Perceive echoes of past or future events, revealing historical insights or glimpses of impending doom.
Multiversal Weave Sense: Detect ripples and shifts in the multiversal fabric, sensing active portals or major events in parallel realities (perhaps even the stirrings of a cosmic apocalypse, which he must chronicle).
Temporal Stasis Field: Create localized pockets where time slows or freezes, useful for protecting allies or evading threats.
Cosmic Ward: Project a protective barrier of pure cosmic energy, deflecting supernatural attacks and malevolent forces (like the influence of Shub-Niggurath's avatars).
Reality Reshaping (Minor): Perform subtle, momentary alterations to local reality, perfect for distracting foes or subtly influencing environments.
Artron Energy Bolt (Non-Lethal): Discharge a focused bolt of temporal energy to disorient or stun targets, maintaining his non-lethal approach as a chronicler.
Technology-Focused Cosmic Spells:
Captain Hedges' understanding of the universe extends to its intricate technological manifestations, allowing him to weave cosmic energies into effects that interact directly with machinery and digital realms.
Analyze Universal Device:
Effect: By focusing cosmic energy, Captain Hedges can instantly comprehend the function, internal mechanisms, energy levels (charges), and operational principles of any technological device, no matter how advanced or alien. This provides a substantial bonus to Knowledge (Technology) or Perception (Investigation) rolls when examining such items. It also reveals any hidden functions or malfunctions.
Difficulty: Moderate (15) for common tech, Difficult (20+) for advanced or alien devices, Very Difficult (25+) for highly esoteric or concealed mechanisms.
Strain: May cause mild mental fatigue on highly complex devices (GM's discretion).
Cosmic Restoration (Repair):
Effect: Channeling restorative cosmic energy, Captain Hedges can repair damaged technological objects, constructs, or even certain energy systems. This acts as an instantaneous Mechanical (Repair) check, repairing a certain amount of "damage" (e.g., restoring 3D of Hull or System Dice to a damaged object/device). More dice/success can repair larger or more complex damage. It cannot rebuild from dust, but can restore severely broken but intact items.
Difficulty: Easy (5) for minor breaks, Moderate (10-15) for significant damage, Difficult (20+) for severe damage to complex systems.
Strain: Can cost 1 Story Point for major repairs.
Systemic Discharge:
Effect: Captain Hedges projects a pulse of disruptive cosmic energy that overloads or temporarily disables technological systems. This can drain energy from a charged device, temporarily shut down electronic machinery, or cause a robot/construct to seize up. Against a target, this is an opposed Cosmic Manipulation vs. target's Technical (System Defense) or Resolve roll.
Difficulty: Moderate (15) to affect simple devices, Difficult (20+) for complex systems or armored constructs.
Effect: Successful use renders target device/system inoperable for 1D rounds, or drains 2D charges. Against a robot, it may cause 4D Stun Damage or force it to lose its next action.
Resonance Barrier (Protection from Technology):
Effect: Captain Hedges creates a localized field of cosmic resonance that interferes with incoming technological attacks or attempts at electronic manipulation. This grants a bonus to Defense rolls against ranged attacks from technological weapons (e.g., blaster bolts, sonic pulses) and provides a bonus to Resolve rolls against technologically-induced mental effects (e.g., cybernetic control, neural scramblers).
Difficulty: Moderate (15) to activate and sustain.
Effect: Provides a +2D bonus to relevant defense/resistance rolls for 1D rounds, or until dismissed.
Strain: Requires concentration, potentially imposing a -1D penalty to other actions while active.
A Life Observed, A Chronicle Lived
My own journey, here in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2025, is intrinsically woven into this chronicle. Each personal experience is a crucial act of data collection for the Chronomancer:
Exploring Shreveport's History: Absorbing the energetic imprints of places like the Municipal Auditorium or my childhood home, vital context for how cosmic events manifest in this vibrant timeline.
Wrestling Arenas (NWL/OWL): Experiencing the raw human drama and collective passion in these crucibles of emotion, mirroring the grand hero-villain narratives of the multiverse.
Star Trek: The Experience: A profound immersion into a simulated future, gathering experiential data linking the simulated to the real multiversal past and present.
Homelessness & Off-Grid Living (Arizona): A deep dive into survival, resilience, and the subtle whispers of natural and hidden energies, a harsh but crucial entry in the Chronometer, revealing perseverance across the Captain Hedges lineage, which traces back through figures like Captain Joseph Hedges and the De Lacy family.
When you explore these pages—from the Tiger Force Shadow Saga's battlefields to the cosmic conflicts of the Leo Galaxy, where Zimaralian Tygerian Captain Logan Keller Hedges battles Shub-Niggurath's avatars—know that you are not simply reading fiction. You are peering into the ongoing record of a Chronomancer, perpetually compelled to document the unending "Adventures of Captain Hedges Across Time and Space." It is a privilege, a duty, and sometimes, a terrifying burden. But it is my tale, and I am its chronicler.
