The Lovecraft Variant For Monsters! Monsters! From Bolt Thrower Press

A piece of role playing history!

I am looking at The Lovecraft Variant by Bolt Thrower Press, a reprint of the articles from the Sorcerer's Apprentice magazine that helped shape Call of Cthulhu.

The Lovecraft Variant on DrivethruRPG The-Lovecraft-Variant

The ORIGINAL Lovecraftian RPG.

A 60+ page booklet with everything you need to turn Monsters! Monsters! (or any other compatible rules set) into a full Lovecraftian system – featuring new classes, skills, character traits, weapons, monsters and much more!

In 1980 the Rahman brothers released a set of rules to convert the second oldest role-playing game in the world to a Lovecraftian setting – not just a set of loosely inspired monsters, but a full system for investigating strange occurrences and uncovering ancient secrets, all while struggling to maintain the characters' sanity in the face of unimaginable terrors.

This book consists of:

The Lovecraft Variant – first published in Sorcerer’s Apprentice No 7 – Summer 1980.

A bevy of rules to recreate HP Lovecraft’s mythos in RPG games.

Know Your Foe: The Monsters of the Cthulhu Mythos – first published in Sorcerer’s Apprentice No 7 – Summer 1981. A system agnostic essay on including Lovecraftian monsters and gods in your games.

You will need a copy of the Monsters! Monsters! Core rules (or a compatible system) to use this book.

These rules are published under license by Bolt Thrower Press.
