THE YEAR OF THE TIGER: A 2022 RETROSPECTIVE
Date: December 31, 2022 Location: The Motor Hotel, Shreveport, LA Status: SOLITARY WATCH
THE VIEW FROM THE MOTOR HOTEL It’s New Year's Eve. I’m sitting here alone in a room at the Motor Hotel in Shreveport. No party, no noise, just me and the silence of the turn of the year.
But as I sit here, looking back at 2022, I don't feel isolated. I feel victorious.
In the Chinese Zodiac, this was the Year of the Water Tiger (Feb 1, 2022 – Jan 21, 2023). We are still in its grip for a few more weeks, but as the calendar flips tonight, I have to document what this year actually meant. It wasn't just another year of survival; it was the year we went on the offensive.
FROM THE HOTEL ROOM TO THE NORTHERN SEAS The world sees a quiet hotel room. I see a command center. This year, we achieved things that will last forever in the gaming history books:
The Land Rush (March 2022): We fought for our place. That $333 investment—earned the hard way—secured Achrox, Tygeria, and New Tuslan. We put a flag in the ground.
The Armory: We stocked the war chest with the books and lore needed to rule that land.
The Canonization: This is the big one. The Tygerians are no longer just an idea I had. They are printed in the Monsterary of Zimrala. The Goddess Sekhmet has chosen them. The map marks our port.
THE QUIET VICTORY There’s something fitting about being here by myself tonight. The Tiger Force has always been about the solitary watch—the graveyard shifts, the long nights, the planning when no one else is watching.
While everyone else is watching the ball drop, I’m looking at the map of Grid B-4. I’m looking at the stats for the Tygerian Champions. I’m realizing that while I might be physically in a Motor Hotel in Shreveport, my legacy is now permanently established in the Northlands of Zimrala.
THE FINAL LOG OF 2022 So, from my room to yours, wherever you are: Happy New Year. 2022 was the Year of the Tiger, and we owned it. 2023 is coming, and we are ready.
Signed: Emperor of The Tygerian Isles Rajah Gundu
