Shreveport is usually quiet in mid-February, but tonight the air in the Nocturnis Underbelly feels charged with a different kind of static. At 7:48 PM, the bell above the door didn't just ring; it chimed with a frequency that set the 1909 Analytical Engine humming in the basement.
She walked in wearing a black cloche hat and a trench coat that smelled of ozone and vintage perfume. Angela St. Claire. She wasn't just a customer; she was a temporal anomaly from 1929, carrying the very scrolls the 354 had been hunting for decades.
