Sunday Morning Rising: Keeping Our Focus on the Pursuit

Sunday Morning Rising: Keeping Our Focus on the Pursuit

Good morning, church family!

There is nothing quite like waking up on a beautiful Sunday morning with the word of God still ringing in your heart. Last night, as we gathered together in downtown Shreveport, Pastor Matt brought a powerful word from Acts Chapters 2 and 3 that shook the dust right off our expectations.

If you missed it, or if you just need a reminder while you drink your morning coffee, here is the truth we are carrying into this brand-new week: God is in a relentless, passionate pursuit of people.

The Morning Reflection: Review, Remove, Renew

Before the week gets busy and the distractions of the world start competing for your attention, take just a moment this morning to get low with the Lord and focus on the "3 R's" Pastor Matt challenged us with:

  • Review: Is your heart fully surrendered to the work of God today, or have you let the "normal stuff" clutter your view?

  • Remove: Intentionally push the distractions, the anxieties, and the burdens aside. Stop trying to wrestle through life on your own horsepower.

  • Renew: Hit your knees in humility this morning and renew your focus entirely on the One who loves you.

We Are the Bridge

Remember, the Holy Spirit didn't fill a ragtag group of country folks two thousand years ago just for a spectacle—and He doesn't fill our pews just to make us comfortable. He fills us to supply and provide for the mission.

There are people all around us in our neighborhoods, our workplaces, and our city who are deeply isolated from the truth and love of Jesus. Today, you have a divine responsibility and a beautiful privilege: to be the bridge from isolation to life.

Never lose your familiarity with how lost you were before Jesus found you. Let that memory keep you humble, keep you grateful, and keep you moving out into the community to share His grace.

"Jesus meets you exactly where you are... but He loves you far too much to leave you the same."

Be blessed, step out of your comfort zone, and let’s make Him known in Shreveport today!
