Something is Brewing: From the Cypress Swamp to the Finland Bogs of Zimrala
Saturday, November 22, 2025

Good morning. It is just past 5 AM here in the Cypress Swamp of Shreveport. The world outside is pitch black, save for the porch light casting a long shadow across the yard. Usually, at this hour, I am preparing for the day's chores, thinking about cabin inspections, or wrestling with the heavy thoughts that have occupied my mind since we lost Uncle Jerry.
But this morning is different.
This morning, the silence isn’t filled with worry. It’s filled with the rapid-fire sound of keys clacking. The coffee pot is working overtime, and so is my imagination. While the rest of the world sleeps, I have been deep in the trenches of creation.
I am writing several new manuscripts.
There is something incredibly healing about returning to the page. After weeks of dealing with the harsh realities of life—the hospitals, the loss, the grief, the endless cleaning—diving into a world of my own making feels like taking a deep, fresh breath of air. It feels like the dam has finally broken, and all the creativity that was backed up behind the stress is rushing out.
And I couldn't keep the lid on the cauldron any longer. I am thrilled to share the first look at the world I’ve been building in the dark hours of the morning.
While I sit here looking out at the real cypress trees of Louisiana, my mind has traveled lightyears away—through the portals and across the multiverse—to a place that is familiar yet terrifyingly different. Welcome to Zimrala. Specifically, welcome to the dark, mist-choked corners of Bodeleaf County, home of the Finland Bogs.
The swamps of Zimrala are alive with an ancient, green-hued magic. But be warned: you won’t find the entities here in any established folklore or standard mythology. We are dealing with the Green Necromancer Wizard God of Zimrala. He draws power from the rot of the swamp itself, using his primary servants: the Green Spiders.
🌿 THE QUEEN OF VERDANT DECAY (GPM Icon)
Role: The corrupted Wild Queen Icon, a female Dryad transformed into the Green Necromancer Wizard God of Zimrala. She draws immense power from the rot and negative energy of the swamp.
Affiliation: Independent Cosmic Threat (WIZ/CON/Nature Focus).
Archetype: Necromancer Wizard God (Apex Decay/Rot Focus).
I. GPM Icon Core Statistics (Cosmic Level Threat)
The Queen's stats reflect her high innate magical connection (Dryad lineage) maximized by the Necromancer God status, demanding high WIZ and INT attributes.
| Rating / Combat / Defense | Attribute Scores (STR / CON / DEX / SPD / INT / WIZ / CHR / LK) |
| Monster Rating (MR): 6,000 | STR 500, CON 1000, DEX 50, SPD 50, INT 1500, WIZ 2000, CHR 900, LK 50 |
| Armor Protection (AP): 10 (Thickened Bark) | UDR: 8 |
II. DIVINE DOMAINS AND COSMIC MASTERY (Innate Progression)
The Queen controls the swamp's ecology, using its rot as a source of dark power and commanding her legion of Green Spiders.
MAST/Ability Name: Verdant Decay Aura (Innate)
Full Progression: As a passive effect, all living non-allied creatures within 30 feet suffer a minus 3 penalty to all Healing attempts and all CON SRs against disease/sickness. This ability is always active in the swamp.
MAST/Ability Name: Nature's Twisted Command
Full Progression: Grants the Queen automatic, non-contestable control over all Green Spiders and all plant-based undead/monsters within her domain (the Swamp and Fenland Bog).
MAST/Ability Name: Rot Channeling
Full Progression: Active (1/turn): When the Queen is standing in natural rot, mud, or deep water, she can drain energy from the environment, regenerating 1d6 WIZ points and 1d6 CON/HP instantly.
MAST/Ability Name: Green Spider Legion
Full Progression: Active (1/combat): Instantly summons 3d6 MR 50 Green Spiders to attack the Queen's foes. These spiders are highly poisonous and coordinated.
MAST/Ability Name: Lair Mastery
Full Progression: While operating within the Fenland Bog or areas of deep rot, the Queen gains Advantage on all WIZ SRs (roll 3d6, drop lowest).
This final profile establishes the Queen of Verdant Decay as a supreme, nature-based rival to the Black Dragon Queen, completing the necessary roster of major threats.
But you can't have villains without heroes. To give you a real taste of the action brewing in my imagination, behold this incredible cover art. It captures the moment our protagonists find themselves overrun by the Necromancer’s glowing horde in the depths of the Bogs.
