Wednesday Musings: Better Late Than Never (Bayou Time)

Wednesday Musings: Better Late Than Never (Bayou Time)

February 4, 2026 | Dispatch from the Shreveport Cabin

If you were looking for this post with your morning coffee, I owe you an apology. The sun is high over the Red River now, and the "Midweek Musing" is finally surfacing.

It’s been one of those mornings where the "real world" decides to push back against the schedule. I've had a mountain of personal business requiring my full attention since the crack of dawn, leaving little time for the keyboard.

On top of that, Uncle Bill has been in a particularly "cranky" mood today. As a retired Marine, when he’s got a mission in mind—even if that mission is just getting my undivided attention—the rest of the world just has to wait. Between tending to his needs and handling the morning's business, the Bayou Earl has been pulled in ten different directions.

We finally sat down for a proper meal to smooth things over. We even had our friend, the Green Tygerian Hedge Wizard, join us at the table. It’s a rare sight to see a giant, green-furred bipedal tiger digging into a ham dinner, but it’s just another day here at the cabin.

But the dust has finally settled, the coffee is refilled, and the Into the Shadow B&B adventure is officially live for you to dig into. Thanks for sticking with me while I handled the "home front" logistics.

Now, let’s get back to the dread of the Twelve Mile.

— Bayou Earl Cryptid Hunter & Proprietor of the Cypress Shadow B&B
