3 AM Whispers: Rebuilding Archives and the Battle for the City State June 13, 2026

Introduction

The Hook: They say a writer’s mind lives entirely in fictional worlds, but the ink on the page is always driven by the reality on the ground.

The Problem: Out here on the porch at the Shreveport Cabin, the pressure is real. Between balancing major creative deadlines and facing down a September 5th timeline to renew my lease on the cabin and with the housing authority—who wants me to fill out my voucher renewal paperwork and my current intent to vacate these premises if I want to move somewhere else—there's a lot of real-world noise trying to crowd the workspace. As an independent creator, I have to fight twice as hard to protect my life's gaming works, manage the logistics of daily real life and my gaming life, and make sure my stories actually reach the website's tales.

The Solution/Promise: But we don't back down from a tight schedule. Tonight, we are putting our energy exactly where it belongs: facing the real-world grit head-on, checking in on the Reconstruction Archives, and blasting the spotlight on the massive new Kickstarter campaign that needs our support right now.

Real-World Grit: The September 5th Horizon

Being a creator means managing the fiction while keeping your boots firmly planted in reality. Right alongside these creative deadlines, I’m facing a major real-world hurdle. Come September 5th, my lease will be up on the cabin, and the housing authority voucher renewal starts this coming Monday. Yes, I must start my epic paperwork renewal with the housing authority 120 days before my lease is up, and if I want to move somewhere else, I must give a notice that I intend to vacate.

Navigating bureaucratic paperwork, verifying files, and balancing potential relocation logistics while trying to hit massive gaming deadlines is an exhausting tightrope walk. It’s stressful, it’s heavy, and it’s the exact kind of ground-level challenge that independent writers deal with every single day. But this porch doesn't fold under pressure. We keep the coffee hot, we keep the fingers on the keyboard, and we push through the paperwork just like we push through the design layouts.

The Reconstruction Archives

We're checking in on the Reconstruction Gaming Years Archive, and showing how the old-school renaissance keeps moving forward no matter what hurdles are on the horizon.

While we handle the business in the Shreveport cabin, the back-end work never stops. The current landscape only proves why the Reconstruction Gaming Years Archive is so vital. This massive restorative project is my line in the sand—a meticulous effort to document, organize, and rebuild the timeline of my gaming archives. But this isn't just about gaming history. This is about documenting my entire historical account, my entire life's work, the ups, the downs, and how sometimes it all goes sideways. Preserving our legacy ensures that decades of history remain safely in the hands of the community.

18 Days to Storm the City State: The Ultimate Campaign Drop

The countdown is officially on. We have exactly 18 days left to secure the ultimate full-color campaign drops for Monsters! Monsters! and any classic tabletop system. Steven Crompton, Ken St. Andre, and the team are delivering a massive, multi-city masterpiece straight to the fans, bypassing the usual corporate channels to bring old-school fantasy right to your doorstep.

This isn't just a simple supplement; it’s a sprawling double-feature layout detailing ancient, mythic urban strongholds on the world of Zimrala from the Monsterary of Zimrala, which serves as the official game setting for all products and is the mandatory rulebook for the entire setting. The campaign packages include:

City State of the Immortal Cat Goddess (Sekh-Atem): An 80 to 120-page full-color campaign book mapping out a massive ancient Egyptian-style metropolis. It details everything from the Mummification Temple and lighthouses to underground lairs, docks, and a zoo. Best of all, it features over 50 fully described characters written by Ken St. Andre, Stefan Jones, Steven Crompton, and yours truly, Earl C. Hedges Jr.

The Hidden City of Lamasthu: An 80 to 100-page color book diving into a half-submerged, Cthulhian nightmare city inspired by the ruined, cosmic-horror spaces where deep worshippers dwell. It features the Pit, the Hatchery, and Lamasthu's Palace.

The Double-Sided 17 x 22 Glossy Map: A massive, physical tactical map showing Sekh-Atem on one side and Lamasthu on the other—completely free of A.I. generation, pure old-school cartography.

1st issue of Monster's Apprentice game magazine (with NO A.I.): This Egyptos-themed magazine will contain gaming articles, a new solo adventure by Ken St. Andre, a GM adventure by Debora Kerr, a trap article, a new monster article, an interview with artist Rob Carver, a tribute to Rick Loomis, Egyptos-themed fiction and RPG history looking back at our fans' shared past. It's meant to be a tribute to the classic magazine that Ken St. Andre, Stefan Jones, Steve Crompton, and Debora Kerr all worked on in the 1980s. Sort of a "what if" we created an alternate version of Sorcerer's Apprentice now? This magazine will contain NO A.I. art or writing.

Mata Hari's Mission for Cthulhu solo & GM - Expanded Printed Edition: This Solitaire by Ken St. Andre is another breakthrough adventure in a new genre for the creator of Monsters! Monsters! and Tunnels & Trolls. This time it's a supernatural mystery in war-torn Paris and it reads like a thrilling and dangerous scavenger hunt... Paris in 1915 was no longer the City of Light. The war with Germany had diminished it. Mata's life had been long, hard, and in some cases strange. She knew exotic dance better than any other woman in the city, and she knew bits and pieces of magic that sometimes helped her escape from bad situations. But her life is about to change, and if you can help her accomplish a mission for ancient Babylonian gods, then Mata will escape her sordid existence on Earth, and perhaps find a better life on Zimrala. This printed edition of the book will be expanded to contain a GM adventure PLUS 20 pages of additional written material by Ken St. Andre that takes Mata Hari on a mission to the city of Sekh-Atem. But which side is she on? Is Mata Hari planning to join the Egyptos, or is she still secretly spying for Lamasthu? Find out as her adventure continues!

Plus TONS of ADD-ONS and other SURPRISES! Many of you have been seeking out our other previous books and this will be your chance to get those—plus perhaps some other hard-to-find items from our OTHER RPG companies that Steve Crompton and Ken St. Andre worked for over the years. Be sure to keep an eye on our add-on list for dice, solos, rare books, comics, and other rarities. We'll also announce some surprises and stretch goals in our updates. NOTE: If you have an item you're looking for that is NOT shown on the add-on list, let us know and if we have it we will add it for you!

The 18-Day Clock: Projects like this succeed because the community rallies. With under three weeks left on the clock, this is the moment to support the creators directly and secure your copies before the window closes.

Conclusion & Final Takeaway

Hurdles might crowd the calendar, and bureaucratic deadlines might push us to the brink, but the community we’ve built over the last fifty years cannot be sidelined. The creative fire is white-hot, the archives are expanding, and the old-school renaissance is moving forward with absolute momentum.
