MIDWEEK MUSSINGS I AM Stepping Away from the Command Chairi Today

Wednesday Midweek Musings: Stepping Away from the Command Chair

Introduction

They say a writer’s mind never truly rests, even when the desk is empty. Today, I am stepping away from the command chair to run a few essential local errands around Shreveport. But just because I’m away from the keyboard doesn't mean the wheels aren't turning.

While I’m out tracking down supplies and taking care of business, the creative fires are still burning hot. In fact, some of the best storylines, cosmic twists, and table mechanics spark when you're out navigating the real world.

What’s Cooking in the Pipeline

When you are building vast multiverses and charting untamed territory, a change of scenery is exactly what the doctor ordered. Here is a look at the heavy-hitting gaming projects currently marinating in my subconscious while I'm on the move today:

1. Star Wars: Coynite Legacy (Shadows Over Elrood Sector)

Get your six-sided dice ready! I am deep in the hangar bay mapping out my brand-new, fan-based Star Wars campaign series: Coynite Legacy. Set against the dangerous backdrop of the Shadows Over Elrood Sector, this project is being built utilizing the classic West End Games D6 System, alongside the Open Game License (OGL) and System Reference Document (SRD) frameworks.

This saga is drawn straight from my old archives—rooted in the classic Star Wars fan campaign I ran from 1987 to 1997 during high school and beyond. Expect an honorable, gritty, and cinematic space opera experience that truly honors the classic D6 era.

Watch out for a dangerous brand-new element hitting hyperspace lanes near you: Space Pirates are staging raids across the sector, giving your starfighter pilots and freighter crews a deadly run for their credits.

2. The Lovecraftian Variant: Swamp Dread Mechanics

The fog is rolling thick over the 12 Mile Bayou. I’m deep in development on a spine-chilling Lovecraftian variant featuring brand-new Swamp Dread sanity and mythos mechanics. This psychological horror system will put your favorite characters to the ultimate test. Get ready to follow Detective Jones, Bayou Earl, Uncle Bill, and Doctor John as they look too closely into the shadows of the Louisiana marshes and confront things that were never meant to be uncovered.

Nocturnis City: Neo-Noir Stories

Step into the shadows of the neon-drenched streets. I am deep in the creative lab drafting a captivating wave of Neo-Noir stories set in Nocturnis City, and all the realted Neo-Noir Storylines, The creative blueprint of my version of the Grid Iron League with devopling a way to build thier full open d6 stats with the ogl mecanics If you like your crime gritty, your detectives hard-boiled, and your urban landscapes filled with mystery and high-stakes tension, you will want to keep your eyes peeled for these upcoming narratives. The city never sleeps, and neither do the shadows.

3. Fresh Space Trails for Ken St. Andre’s Starfaring

The cosmic horizons are expanding. I am currently drafting exciting new content for Ken St. Andre’s legendary Starfaring sci-fi game. We are pushing the limits of interstellar exploration, charting dangerous anomalies, and expanding what's possible when your crew jumps into the deep dark of the void.

To turn up the heat, I am officially introducing Space Pirates to the star lanes of Starfaring. Captains will have to lock down their crystal vaults and arm their shields to protect their cargo from ruthless lawless renegades waiting in ambush near dark portals.

4. Tygerian Isles Playtest Materials (Coming This September!)

As International Talk Like a Pirate Day approaches this September, trouble is brewing in Zimrala. Pesky human pirates have officially invaded the Tygerian Isles! In this upcoming playtest release, the tables are completely turned. It is going to be up to all the monsters to band together, defend their home turf, and completely take out these invading human scallywags. Keep your eyes on the horizon for these wild new monster-defense mechanics and encounter rules.

Conclusion

Sometimes you have to step back from the parchment to see the whole map. I’ll be back at the desk soon, coffee mug refueled, ready to translate these wandering thoughts into the next great chronicle. Thank you for riding shotgun on this journey across time and space.

What's on Your Mind?

While I'm away from the desk today, I want to hear from you. Which group of buccaneers are you ready to fight off first—the fantasy scallywags invading the Tygerian Isles, or the high-tech space pirates raiding the trade routes of Starfaring and the Elrood Sector?
