Bayou Tuesday: Sci-Fi Shadows Over the Shreveport Cabin

Welcome to all my fellow monsters across the multiverse! It is another Bayou Tuesday, and while the mist is thick over the Red River this morning, my mind is drifting far beyond the Louisiana moss and into the deep reaches of the Leo Galaxy. I’m running on a tight schedule today—taking care of family and heading to appointments—but the creative gears never stop turning in the Shreveport Cabin.

The Sci-Fi Soul of the Bayou

People often ask me why a "Hedge Wizard" living in a cabin cares so much about starships, ion engines, and intergalactic empires. To me, the swamp and the stars aren't that different. Both are vast, mysterious, and filled with things that can swallow you whole if you aren't prepared. Whether you are navigating a YT-2600 through an asteroid field or a flat-bottom boat through a cypress brake, the rules of survival remain the same: keep your sensors sharp and your blaster closer.

Update from the Leo Galaxy

As we move further into the Year of the Snake, the Ophidian Empire is beginning to cast a long shadow over my current drafts. I’ve been digging through the archives of the Urland Universe, restoring scrolls that haven't seen the light of day since the late 80s. There’s a specific kind of magic in blending that old-school "used universe" sci-fi feel with the high-stakes mechanics of the Open D6 system.

Update from Battle of the Planets

I’ve been at the desk since 3:00 AM this morning statting up the heroes and villains of G-Force, and I’ve already added two Battle of the Planets posts for all of you to enjoy! I have included these with full Open D6 stats as a piece of fan fiction and fan work, bringing that classic G-Force action straight to your tabletop. There is something legendary about that era of sci-fi—where the ships were massive, the stakes were planetary, and villains like Zoltar were as desperate as they were dangerous. Be sure to check them out for all your interstellar needs!

The State of the Bayou: April 28, 2026

Before I head out, here is the celestial and atmospheric data for the Shreveport area today. The spirits of the swamp are restless, and the weather is shifting.

  • Sunrise: 6:28 AM

  • Sunset: 7:52 PM

  • Moonrise: 4:24 PM

  • Moonset: 4:09 AM (Waxing Gibbous)

A Look Ahead: Midweek Musings and Morning Mist

Tomorrow brings the next installment of Midweek Musings, where we’ll dive into the deeper currents of my current projects and perhaps a few secrets from the scrolls of the Urland Universe. However, take note: once that post is live, I may be stepping away from the desk.

The Wednesday Plan

I may be heading out for a community breakfast to fuel up for the rest of the week, or I might be staying offline to focus on recovery and family responsibilities after the musings are posted. In the world of a Hedge Wizard, you have to listen to the body and the spirits of the swamp—sometimes that means pancakes and fellowship, and sometimes it means a quiet cabin and a closed logbook.

Looking Ahead to Thursday

I’m feeling a bit under the weather today, so I’m going to be offline for a bit to recover and handle my responsibilities with Uncle Bill. Family always comes first in the cabin. However, don't think for a second that the updates are stopping. I have a stack of drafts ready to go, and I’ll be back this Thursday to drop more content from the Tygerian Isles and perhaps some more deep-space lore.

To all my readers and fellow GMs: stay tuned. The multiverse is expanding, and the Shreveport Cabin is the epicenter. Keep your dice rolling (all D6s, of course!) and keep your eyes on the horizon.
