Keeping Focused on the Course
When the noise of the world starts getting loud, it is easy to lose track of the rhythm we are supposed to be walking in. That is why the ancient prayers pull us back to a grounding truth: there is an intentional design behind every step we take. Preaching to your own soul means tuning out the immediate distractions and locking your eyes onto a higher directive.
This week, we find our footing in the timeless call of the Venite (Psalm 95):
"Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving and raise a loud shout to him with psalms."
This isn't a passive request; it's a command to your spirit to recognize the Creator who holds the deep places of the earth in His hands. It is about waking up, shaking off the exhaustion of the past week, and stepping directly onto the course set right in front of us.
The Rain, The Snow, and The Promise
Isaiah gives us a vivid picture of how purpose actually works. Rain and snow don't fall from the sky just to disappear; they hit the soil, sink deep, and force things to grow. They change the landscape.
When you look at the course set before you, it is easy to wonder if your daily efforts, your prayers, or the care you pour out into the world are actually making a difference. But the liturgy reminds us of an unshakeable law:
Purpose is Active: God's word and direction aren't static; they are moving forward to accomplish a specific design.
Growth Takes Time: Just like seed for sowing and bread for eating, the spiritual nourishment we receive today is building the foundation for tomorrow's strength.
Zero Wasted Effort: Nothing sent out by the Creator returns empty.
When you preach this to your soul, you are choosing to trust the process. You are recognizing that even the quiet, routine movements of your week are being watered by a promise that cannot fail to bear fruit.
