Apologies for the recent silence on the blogosphere! Your intrepid Captain Hedges has been temporarily sidelined. A rather persistent rib issue, coupled with some other pressing missions that required my immediate attention, has kept me away from the keyboard. But fear not, loyal readers, I'm finally back online and eager to dive back into the action across multiple fronts!
First and foremost, I'm thrilled to announce that Splinter Cell is back in action on my new Xbox One! To celebrate its triumphant return to my gaming setup, I'll be embarking on a nostalgic journey into my archives. That's right, I'll be revisiting and reposting my original gameplay experiences from way back in 2002 through 2004. Get ready for a blast from the past as I, Captain Hedges, once again step into the tactical boots of the legendary Sam Fisher and his elite team. Expect detailed accounts of stealthy infiltrations, tense close-quarters combat, and all the gadgetry that made the original Splinter Cell so iconic.
This revisiting of my classic Splinter Cell playthroughs directly ties into my ongoing and ever-evolving Tiger Force Shadow Saga Campaign. For those who are new here, this is where I weave together real-world historical events – including my family's involvement in the Vietnam War and the later Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations, alongside my dad's soldiers in Vietnam and their children in Desert Strom – and the captivating worlds of video games into a thrilling narrative series. Through these blog posts, you'll follow the time-bending adventures of yours truly, Captain Hedges, and other family members, as I navigate through pivotal moments in both my family history, and real-world history, folklore, myths, legends and iconic game scenarios. Think of it as a unique blend of historical fiction and gaming commentary, all rolled into one!
Now, if you'll allow me a slight course correction, I realize I've been a bit remiss in revisiting another important series on this blog: The Best of The American Cryptid Hunter! Fear not, fellow seekers of the strange and unexplained, for Captain Hedges is back on the trail of those elusive creatures that lurk in the shadows and the forgotten corners of our land. I'm dusting off my field notes, recalibrating my thermal vision goggles (metaphorically speaking, of course!), and preparing to delve back into the fascinating world of American cryptids. Expect new investigations, analyses of eyewitness accounts, and perhaps even some speculative theories as I once again take up the mantle of The Best of The American Cryptid Hunter. Stay tuned for updates on when the next deep dive into the cryptozoological will be hitting the blog!
But the adventures don't stop in the digital realm or the shadowy forests! I'm also excited to announce that I'll be adding more real-life adventures to the blog as I continue my explorations along the magnificent Arizona Trail! For those who have been following, you know this incredible 800-mile trek has offered stunning landscapes and challenging experiences. I'll be sharing more stories, photos, and reflections from my time on the trail, offering a glimpse into the beauty and resilience of the Arizona wilderness. Expect tales of breathtaking vistas, encounters with local wildlife, and the personal challenges and triumphs of long-distance hiking, while i was homeless and living off the land and the chariotry of God and others I found along the way.
Speaking of narratives and important updates, I also wanted to ensure you didn't miss the latest installment from Paster Matt Tyson. His insightful and thought-provoking series, "We are the Church," has reached its third part, which went live on March 10th, 2025. You can delve into "We are the Church Part 3" right here: [Here's the Link to that post]. It's a significant piece that I wanted to make sure everyone had access to.
On a more personal note, I'm also catching up on my usual adventures and quality time spent with my Uncle Bill. These moments, while perhaps less grand than battling terrorists or navigating historical conflicts, are an important part of life, and I'll be sharing some of those updates with you all below, as always.
So, there you have it! A full update on what's been keeping me busy and what exciting content you can look forward to across gaming, historical narratives, the thrilling pursuit of American cryptids, and my ongoing real-life adventures on the Arizona Trail! Thank you for your patience and continued support. Stay tuned for more tales from the past and present, both in the virtual world and the stunning landscapes of the real one.
Hang in there, stay loose, keep your eyes peeled for digital spies, shadowy beasts, and the wonders of the great outdoors!
Yours for now,
Captain Hedges
