Good Night from the Bayou: Rest and Renewal After a Wild Day!

Well, folks, the sun is setting low over the cypress trees, casting long, purple shadows across the bayou. After a day like today –

illed with unexpected company, a cabin cleaned top to bottom, and a rather memorable encounter with a certain Soldge Monster – it’s definitely time to wind down.

Are they friendly? nope…

Do they smell bad? yep…

One might say they resemble a pile of foul feces with eyes and tentacles and a rather large mouth. Either way, very nasty indeed…

There’s a unique kind of peace that settles over the swamp as night falls. The cicadas begin their nightly chorus, the frogs start their croaking symphony, and the air cools, carrying the scent of damp earth and blooming jasmine. It's a reminder that even after the busiest, strangest days, there’s always a moment for quiet and rest.

Tonight, as I sit on the porch, listening to the gentle lapping of the water, I'm thinking about the importance of rest. We push ourselves, we serve others, we tackle challenges – sometimes even interdimensional ones! But to keep going, to be ready for whatever tomorrow brings, we need to allow ourselves to recharge. Just like the bayou itself, which cycles through periods of flood and calm, growth and dormancy, we too need our moments of stillness.

So, wherever you are, I hope you can find a little bit of that bayou peace tonight. Let go of the day's hustle, big or small. Give yourself permission to rest, to rejuvenate, and to prepare for a fresh start.

Sweet dreams from Shreveport, and I'll see you all back here for another Bayou Tuesday! For me I am off to bed good night!

Yours Captain Hedges
