The Dawn After the Long Night (and the Coffee's Not Strong Enough)
Good morning (or is it still last night?), dear readers. Let's be real, this Monday morning is hitting different. And by "different," I mean I'm pretty sure the sun is mocking me for the distinct lack of sleep I managed to accumulate. You know those nights? The ones where your brain decides to host a 24/7 idea convention, or maybe the neighbor's cat is having a rave under your window, or perhaps your own internal gremlins just refuse to let you drift off. Yeah, it was one of those.
"Slept like a baby" is a phrase that currently feels like an elaborate cosmic joke. My sleep was more akin to a series of brief, involuntary system reboots – cat naps that left me feeling more disoriented than refreshed. The world outside is starting its usual Monday hustle, but my internal clock is still somewhere in the twilight zone.
The coffee is brewing, and I'm hoping it possesses some kind of magical resurrection power. Right now, it just smells… like coffee. Not the potent elixir of life I desperately need. Maybe by the second or third cup, things will start to come into focus. Maybe the world will stop feeling like it's moving at a slightly sped-up frame rate.
What does one even do with a day that starts on the heels of a sleepless night? The to-do list is already looking like a Herculean task. Maybe today is all about survival mode. Gentle movements, easy tasks, and a whole lot of caffeine.
Anyone else out there battling the Monday morning sleep demons with me? Misery loves company, as they say (though right now, I'd probably just settle for a quiet corner and a pillow).
Here's to hoping the day gets better, the coffee gets stronger, and tonight brings the sweet, sweet embrace of uninterrupted sleep. Wish me luck (and maybe send some extra-strength coffee vibes my way). Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I hear the coffee pot singing its lukewarm song.
Yours Captain Hedges
