Remembering Earl Clinton Hedges Sr.: A Father's Day and Birthday Tribute
This year, as Father's Day came and left on June 15th, and with his 89th birthday on July 2nd, our thoughts turn to Earl Clinton Hedges Sr. It's hard to believe, but this year marks the 16th year since we said our goodbyes. My father, a man of diverse interests and a proud veteran left a lasting mark on our lives.
Part 2: Remembering him after Father's Day June 22nd, 2025 – I am still Honoring His Legacy with these posts.
Father's Day, June 22nd, 2025, takes on an even deeper meaning for our family this year. It's a time to honor Earl Sr. not just as a father, but as a man who embodied dedication, skill, and a quiet passion for life. For many, Father's Day is about celebrating the fathers who are still with us, but for those of us whose dads have passed, it's a day of heartfelt remembrance. We recall his wisdom, his laughter, and the unique way he approached the world. Perhaps it's reflecting on a fishing trip we took together, or remembering the intricate details of a leather item he crafted, or even the distinct sound of his motorcycle.
His time in the Air Force, including his Vietnam service, instilled in him a discipline and resilience that he carried throughout his life. These qualities, combined with his diverse hobbies, paint a picture of a man who was always learning and exploring. On this Father's Day, we'll share anecdotes that make us smile, perhaps look through old photographs, and simply feel grateful for the time we had with him. It's a day to ensure his spirit lives on through the stories we tell and the memories we hold dear. His lifelong connection to Flagstaff, where he lived and passed, speaks volumes about his deep roots and the community he was a part of.
This was and still is a sad time in my life.
Yours Captain Hedges
