3 AM Whispers: The Sediment of Creation Date: Sunday, December 7, 2025 Time: 3:00 AM Location: The Cabin, Shreveport, LA
It is 3 AM, and the fire in the old stove is nothing more than a stubborn, low glow. It is in these liminal hours that the dust truly settles—not the mundane kind, but the residue of reality itself. I call it the Sediment of Creation, the metaphysical detritus left behind when the sheer power of multiversal forces has been spent.
The Aether Moth
The Gatekeeper Wyrm Archetype (M&M 2.7) - Final Master Consolidation
Product Identity & Legal
The Ether Dragons, those architects of transit and controllers of the multiverse portals, are notoriously clean in their passage. However, even the grandest mechanism leaves a fine particulate. When they opened the massive, desperate gate that brought the refugee population of Troll World to the safety of Zimrala, the resulting psychic and temporal bleed was monumental. The Sediment is what crystallizes in the wake of such an event—a glittering, paradoxical ash that is simultaneously everything and nothing.
And where there is unique energy, there are unique creatures that feed on it.
The Aether Moth is one of the most common organisms to be found in close proximity to the larger, more stable portal nexus points maintained by the Ether Dragons. They are rarely hostile, but their peculiar diet makes them a menace to anyone relying on magical wards or stored psychic energy. They subsist entirely on the faint, residual Sediment of Creation, making them a living barometer for dimensional instability.
They are frustratingly difficult to strike, constantly shifting slightly out of phase with reality.

Special Powers
Aetheric Shift: The Aether Moth constantly phases slightly in and out of the Prime Plane. This gives it a permanent +2 bonus to its Defense roll. It cannot be grappled or held by physical means.
Dust of Slumber (Energy Effect): Once per combat, the moth can emit a cloud of phosphorescent dust in a 3D6 wide cone. Any character caught in the cone must make a Saving Throw vs. Magic (D6). If the save is failed, the character is Stunned for 1D6 rounds (losing their next action(s)). Note: This is a magical energy effect, not a poison.
Sediment Feast: If the moth is killed, it detonates in a tiny, harmless burst of pure aetheric energy. Any character touching the remains must succeed on a Saving Throw vs. Magic (D6) or lose 1 point of Magic/Psychic energy as the moth's residue attempts to consume ambient spiritual power.
The Gatekeeper Wyrm is a typical Elder Ether Dragon, one of the ancient, powerful beings who controls the multiverse portals. They are currently using a powerful illusion to mask their true identity and fulfill a benevolent mission.

II. NARRATIVE LORE: THE WYRM'S DISGUISE (Kyriel's Mission)
The Disguise (Kyriel): The Wyrm is currently walking among mortals in the form of a humble Hedge Wizard, often called "The Guide." This disguise is a sophisticated illusion used to prevent panic and allow interaction with the PMs.
The Mission: The Wyrm's current goal is to ensure the spirit of warmth prevails during the harsh winter. It will guide the refugees, task the PMs with recovering a stolen "Heart of Winter" ornament, and reward them with luck bonuses.
Personality: The Wyrm (in its Hedge Wizard form) is peaceful and slightly naive, not fully understanding the greed and malice of the mortal world.
III. UNIQUE MASTERY & SPATIAL ABILITIES (Active Powers) The Wyrm's true abilities focus entirely on stability, transportation, and dimensional control, often manifesting as "Hedge Wizard" effects.
