Rise n' Shine: The Wizard, The Wallet, and The Wash

5:00 AM. The cabin is quiet, save for the steady gurgle of the pot in the kitchen. For now, the coffee is brewing, and I am trying to wake up!
Hello everyone, it's time to Rise n' Shine today
.
The rain is drumming on the tin roof here in the swamp, a sound that usually brings peace, but today it serves as a reminder of the work that needs to be done. Good morning, everyone. You may have noticed that my posts have been late and a lot more scarce recently. I want to be open with you about why. The reason for this is simply because I have a life offline, and the holidays are chaotic around here.
We spend so much time in this blog talking about Thrivaldi—about Queens who can freeze dragons and Wizards who can conjure feasts out of thin air. But the Hedge Wizard of the Shreveport Cabin has to deal with the real world, and sometimes, the real world hits harder than an Ogress with a club.
This may be the only post I get out today, but know this: I am behind in my writing. The ideas are there—Zephyr is waiting in the wings, and the Wintermis lore is stacking up—but the logistics of life have taken priority.
I went shopping yesterday, intending to get everything I needed for the Wintermis feasts. I had the list, I had the plan, but when I got to the register, reality set in. To be completely honest, I didn't have enough money to do so. It is a humbling moment that many of us face, where the "gold pieces" just don't stretch as far as the "quest requirements."
So, today requires a different kind of adventure. I am not delving into a dungeon; I need to go to the Lovewell Center for shopping and laundry day today!
For those who don't know, places like the Lovewell Center are vital. In our games, we write about sanctuaries—places where adventurers can rest, restock, and find safety from the storm. In the real world, the Lovewell Center is exactly that. It is a place where community happens, where you can get the help you need to keep the ship sailing. There is no shame in using the sanctuary; that is what it is there for.
So, while the coffee finishes brewing and the steam starts to rise, I am gathering my laundry baskets and my shopping bags. I am trading my wizard's staff for a detergent bottle. The Molemaster and Zephyr will have to wait a few hours while I take care of the cabin and myself.
To all the Sentinels out there who are also juggling the chaos of the holidays with the limits of their bank accounts: I see you. Take care of your real-world quests first. The dragons will still be there when you get back.
I’ll be back online once the laundry is folded and the pantry is stocked.
Happy Monday, Sentinels.
