π SPECIAL FRIDAY EDITION: 6 AM NOCTURNIS
Coastal Chaos, Blood Mites, and The Cartographer's Iron Grip
Date: Friday, December 12, 2025 | Time: 6:00 AM By: The Hedge Wizard of the Shreveport Cabin
Good morning, Nocturnis. The coffee is black, and the air is thick with a humidity that feels less like the Louisiana coast and more like a fever dream. This is an Earth city, Captains, but the gateway is wide open.
Out here, Along the Crimson Coast of Nocturnis City, the tension is palpable. The steep streets and Victorian decay that mimic the forgotten port of Old Frisco are currently lost beneath a smothering layer of Ethereal Fog—The Shroud—which refuses to lift. But beneath that fog, the ground is hot and damp, carrying the deep, humid stench of The Blood Bayou and the oppressive, metallic heat rising off the city's vast industrial stacks.
The reason for the strange weather? It’s rising right off the Whispering Isles Archipelago, which hosts our primary gateway to Zimrala, the world of monsters. We have three major stories dominating the wire this morning, all pointing to a catastrophic breakdown in city control on this side of the gate.
Segment I: Interesting Lead Stories
HEADLINE 1: The Coastal Chaos (Etherium Pinch)
The biggest story is a crisis of energy: the Etherium supply, the very fuel that runs the portals the Ether Dragons use, is being choked off. Unsanctioned raiders struck directly at the Wadjet's Crimson Hook Delta, seizing a vital tanker bound for the city's central reserves. If the Etherium supply falters, the stability of the gateway itself could be jeopardized. The Royal Cartographer's Office is silent, but local City Watch Homicide units—including Lt. Kaelen Stone and Insp. Lyra Keller—have been spotted down by The Crooked Docks investigating what they are calling a "marine tragedy."
HEADLINE 2: The Cartographer's Iron Grip
In City Hall news, the Royal Cartographer's Office has issued its sweeping Executive Decree, mandating total control over all Ancient Golem Cores and Synth-Labor units within Nocturnis. This political power grab is meant to consolidate power away from rivals, particularly the Alchemists’ Union. The decree is expected to be enforced immediately, with compliance demanded from manufacturers operating out of the Hellfire Foundry in the Stygian Hook Threshold.
HEADLINE 3: Local Aid Banned
Mayor Blackwood's administration has quietly passed new, draconian ordinances banning local aid guilds from operating in districts like The Nightmare Slums and The Ziggurat Slums. This cruel decree specifically targets assistance for the "shadow-phased" populace—the victims of the Nocturnis Swarm psychic attacks.
Segment II: Sports & Media Control
In the world of distraction, all eyes are on the arenas.
The Gridiron League and the Nocturnis Wrestling League—both owned by the city's powerhouse media mogul, Silas Blackwood—are moving forward with their schedules despite the coastal crisis. Sources suggest Silas Blackwood, whose ownership also includes Channel 6 News (NLC 6), is leveraging the sports spectacle to keep the public focused anywhere but on the Cartographer's Decree. Catch the coverage on NLC 6, though don't expect Beatrice Hemlock or Edgar Crowe to ask any hard questions about Etherium.
A Note from the Hedge Wizard: My Absence
Now, for a personal note, Captains.
The unpredictable atmosphere of this city has caught one of our own unawares. Sir Clinton Hedges II, following his Gridiron League Game last week, was struck down by a sudden, severe ailment. He is currently suffering from a severe Bladder Infection caused by a peculiar parasite known only as a Blood Mite, which required immediate medical attention.
My focus will be on ensuring Sir Clinton's stability and beginning the investigation into this strange affliction. As such, my posts and investigative reports will be light, sporadic, or entirely absent this weekend as I focus on his recovery and tracing the source of this infection. This city demands vigilance, and I intend to return to the wire as soon as possible. More details on the Blood Mite and its connection to the city's strange environment will follow in my Tuesday post.
Until then, stay vigilant, check your six, and don't trust the reports coming from the Cartographer's Office.
Captain Hedges, signing off.
