THE SIEGE OF CYPRESS SHADOW: B&B Under Attack!
3 AM Whispers from the Cypress Swamp – January 26, 2026
Captain Hedges here, delivering a grim update from the heart of the Bayou. What started as a "Cosmic Chill" has mutated into a full-blown bio-hazard, and our supposed safe house – the charming Cypress Shadow B&B – is now ground zero for the next phase of the Twelve Mile Terror.
The snowstorm didn't just blanket Shreveport; it served as a vector for something far worse. The Snot Bugs and their insidious Bladder Mites have breached containment, turning our high-end Victorian refuge into a literal bug-infested nightmare.
The Breach: A Desperate Defense
The last transmission from Agent Kritz was cut short, but not before we heard the shattering of stained glass. The Snot Bugs, now emboldened by the freezing mutagenic fog they exhale, have swarmed the B&B.
The image above captures the chaotic scene in the common room. Every window is a potential breach point, every creaking floorboard a signal of another encroaching swarm. Detective Jones is holding the line, his suppressed M4 spitting fire into the swirling green mist, while Agent Cornwell maintains tactical oversight, directing the scattered guests and ensuring no critical access points fall.
GM Intel: Fighting for Survival at the Cypress Shadow
For my fellow Game Masters out there looking to thrust their players into a truly claustrophobic horror scenario, this is your blueprint. We're playing by Monsters! Monsters! 2.7 and OpenD6 rules, amplified by the Lovecraft Variant from Bolt Thrower Press – meaning every bug bite is a sanity check, and every failed defense can lead to a deeper, more personal horror.
Environmental Hazard: The Spore Fog The entire interior of the B&B is now permeated by a thick, freezing mist exhaled by the Snot Bugs.
Effect: All characters must make a Stamina Check (Difficulty 15) every 10 minutes.
Failure: Suffer the "Snot Bug" affliction: a -1D penalty to all KNOWLEDGE and PERCEPTION rolls as their sinuses clog and their minds fog.
The Enemy: The Mite Swarm (Bladder Mites) These aren't just mere insects; they're bio-mechanical leeches designed to compromise their targets from the inside out.
DEX 4D: Stealth 6D
STR 1D: (Swarm rules apply: +1D Damage for every 5 mites in the swarm).
Special: Bladder Attack. On a successful hit, the victim must make a Difficulty 18 Willpower check or suffer intense, distracting pain, rendering them incapacitated for 1 round.
Night Hunter Protocols: A Glimmer of Hope Agent Kritz, barricaded in the communications suite, is frantically trying to bypass the bug-clogged security system to activate the mansion's industrial HVAC system – a desperate attempt to vent the mutagenic spores. This requires a Technical: Computer Programming check of Difficulty 20.
Meanwhile, Bayou Earl and Detective Jones are tasked with defending the primary HVAC vents against burrowing mites, while Uncle Bill uses the Parchment of Echoes (a potent Cursed Relic from the Night Hunters toolkit) to track the Queen Mite moving through the B&B's ancient walls.
This is a "Defend the Objective" scenario. If the team loses the Common Room, the infestation will reach the sunroom, and those "hollowed" bodies... well, let's just say they won't stay inanimate for long.
Current Status:
Captain Hedges: Fighting the real-world "Snot Bug" debuff, but monitoring intel.
Detective Jones: Holding the main parlor, rounds getting low.
Agent Kritz: Racing against time to purge the system.
Uncle Bill: Communicating with the dead, hoping for a weakness.
Stay warm, stay armed, and for God's sake, watch the vents.
Yours for now,
Captain Hedges
Bonus Adventure
THE CYPRESS SHADOW SIEGE: 3 AM WHISPERS
Introduction: Welcome back to the front lines of the Shreveport Bayou. Yesterday, in our Monday transmission, we gave you the high-level mechanics and the GM tools to handle the Siege of the Shreveport Cabin. We showed you how to survive the "Cosmic Chill" and the snot-bug swarms in the Captain’s own backyard.
But the nightmare doesn't stop at the cabin door. Today, we are taking you back to a location we established in last week’s Twelve Mile Bayou post: The Cypress Shadow Bed & Breakfast Inn. While the Captain was hunkered down, the rest of the team—Detective Jones, Uncle Bill, and Bayou Earl—were preparing for their own fight.
Today, we give you another full GM Adventure happening simultaneously at the Inn. This is "The Siege of Cypress Shadow," and it’s time to see if Night Hunter Squad Alpha can hold the line against a mutagenic breach that has turned this Victorian refuge into a blue-ice deathtrap.
GM ADVENTURE: THE CYPRESS SHADOW SIEGE
Setting: The Cypress Shadow B&B, Shreveport.
Tone: Gritty, Claustrophobic, Urgent.
Objective: Hold the Common Room for 10 Rounds while the HVAC vents the Spore Fog.
I. THE DEFENDERS: SQUAD ALPHA & LOCAL ASSETS
Tactical Overwatch: Agent Cornwell (FBI) is on the grand staircase, protecting the Scattered Guests huddled in the upper rooms.
The Front Line: Detective Jones and Bayou Earl are back-to-back in the parlor, holding the breach where the stained glass shattered.
The Tech Hub: Agent Kritz (FBI Computer Specialist) is barricaded in the communications suite, fighting to override the frozen HVAC.
Uncle Bill is an exmarine off scene dealing with the bugs at our cabin.
The Occult Specialist: Fredrickson is in the center of the room, using the Parchment of Echoes to track the Hive Queen’s movement through the walls.
(The rest of the mechanics for The Swarm MR, The Spore Fog, and the Hive Queen follow as previously established.)
