Year of the Snake: Day 16 – Base Inspection Protocols

Year of the Snake: Day 16 – Base Inspection Protocols

By Captain Hedges

Log Date: January 16, 2026Status: OFFLINE / MAINTENANCE MODE

Greetings, Star Knights and Travelers.

We interrupt our scheduled transmission of the Year of the Snake for a mandatory real-world side quest

.

Even a Wizard’s Tower (or a Captain’s Cabin) requires a "White Glove" review every now and then. The "Sector Wardens" (the Housing Inspectors) are descending upon the Shreveport Cabin tomorrow for a full structural and maintenance review.

That means I am engaging Protocol: Scrub the Bulkheads.

There will be no transmission tomorrow. I need to focus all my energy on getting the base polished, organized, and ready for inspection. The Trinity Engine is powering down to standby mode until the "All Clear" signal is given.

I will see you all on the other side. Keep your sensors active and your powder dry.

End Transmission.

Day 16: The General's Surprise Inspection

Date: Friday, January 16, 2026 — 08:15 Hours Location: Sublevel 4, Xenobiology Containment (Ruined) By: Captain Hedges

We had a Class-5 Naga Matriarch trapped in a magical cage. We had an eccentric swamp wizard holding the line. We had Marines with stunners locked and loaded. The fate of the world was hanging by a thread.

And then the door chime rang.

It wasn't reinforcements. It was worse. It was General Kaelen, Sector Commander of Tygerian Logistics and Protocol. And he was here for a surprise "White Glove Readiness Inspection."

"Captain Hedges!" The General barked, stepping over a pile of shattered containment glass without blinking. His uniform was spotless, his medals gleaming. He ran a white-gloved finger along a ruined console. "Explain this debris. And why is there swamp mud tracking up my sub-level?"

Dr. Thorne nearly dropped his datapad. I snapped a salute so hard my wrist cracked. "Sir! Minor containment breach! Under control, Sir! Just... tidying up!"

Behind the General's back, Bayou Earl was frantically throwing a speckled camouflage tarp over the glowing green magical cage. The Naga Queen inside was hissing furiously at the indignity of being covered up like surplus equipment.

"Tidying up?" General Kaelen glared at a Marine holding a mop instead of a rifle. "This facility is a disaster area, Captain. You have five minutes to present a regulation environment before I write you up for gross incompetence."

We are currently fighting an ancient snake god, and I'm terrified I'm going to get demoted for having a dirty floor.
